We strive to love our neighbors as Christ loves us…
Meeting both spiritual and practical needs through authentic relationships and service.
Our Mission…
To bring Gospel hope and transformation into the cross-cultural communities of Charlotte.
Philosophy
We go directly to our neighbors in the city, building trust by listening, learning, and serving in meaningful ways. Our goal is to create spaces where people can connect, share life together, and experience the love of Jesus. By investing time and care into real relationships, we hope to earn the right to be heard and make a lasting impact in our community.
Vision
Our vision is a city transformed by the Gospel—where individuals and families from every background experience the peace, belonging, and renewal that come from a relationship with Jesus Christ. We long to see “places of peace” multiply throughout Charlotte as new relationships form and lives are changed.
Partners
We believe the local church is God’s chosen instrument to bring His message of hope to the world. That’s why partnership is at the heart of what we do. Places of Peace helps bridge resources, relationships, and opportunities so churches, individuals, and organizations can serve cross-cultural communities more effectively. Together, we can bring unity and transformation to our city.
Our Story
Places of Peace began out of a local church plant in East Charlotte that was already invested in the community. Founders Travis Janousek and Melissa Lewis were leading the new church plant and wanted to go to people rather than wait for them to come through the doors. After much prayer and consistence, God opened the doors at Ashley Place apartments- where handing out popsicles and hosting cookouts turned into a thriving ministry serving people weekly.
